Application rules for biomethane incentives approved and first call for auction published

Today, the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) promulgated the decree with the application rules for accessing incentives on the injection of biomethane into the natural gas grid.

This is a key step in implementing the measures set out in the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) for the development of biomethane production, either through new plants or through the conversion of existing biogas plants.

The application rules contain, in particular, the public notice schemes for each procedure envisaged, the templates for applications to participate, the documentation to be sent for verification of compliance with the requirements, and the model contracts to be signed between the GSE and the applicants.

In addition, today, the notice for the opening of the first public competitive procedure was also published on the GSE website. Applications can be submitted, exclusively electronically, through the new “Biomethane Development” application available on the GSE website and accessible from the Customer Area, from 12 pm on January 30, 2023 until 12 pm on March 31, 2023.
